Amman Citadel
Amman Citadel is a national historic site at the center of downtown Amman. Located on an L-shaped hill, it is one of the seven jabals that originally made up Amman. The site includes the 2nd-century Roman Temple of Hercules, the 8th-century Umayyad Palace, and a Byzantine church. The location offers stunning panoramic views of the city and the Roman Theatre below. It also houses the Jordan Archaeological Museum displaying artifacts from across the country. The site represents layers of history from the Bronze Age through the Islamic era.
