Old Bridge
The Old Bridge, officially named Karl-Theodor-Brücke, is a historic sandstone arch bridge crossing the Neckar River, connecting the Old Town with the Neuenheim district. Built in 1788 under Elector Charles Theodore, it is the ninth bridge on this site since the 13th century. The bridge features statues of the Elector and Athena, plus a medieval bridge gate that once served as a guardhouse and prison. Don't miss the famous bronze monkey sculpture, which touching is said to bring good luck. The bridge offers stunning panoramic views of the castle and Old Town.
