Alpsee Lake is a protected natural gem at the foot of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles. This crystal-clear lake reaches 60 metres in depth and is surrounded by mountains and forests, making it an ideal spot to relax after visiting the castles. A circular path around the lake offers stunning views for walkers. The Alpseebad public beach on the western shore is open seasonally (May-September) for swimming. Rowing boats and pedal boats can be rented. The water remains refreshingly cool even on hot summer days. A nature reserve, the lake and its surroundings are carefully protected.
