Alfama District

Alfama is Lisbons oldest neighborhood, surviving the 1755 earthquake due to its solid rock foundation. The medieval Moorish labyrinth features narrow cobblestone alleys, traditional azulejo tiles, fado music houses, and stunning viewpoints. Birthplace of Fado music and home to Lisbon Cathedral and Sao Jorge Castle.
