Book Borobudur sunrise tickets online in advance - limited spots that sell out fast.
Use Grab or Gojek exclusively for transport. Avoid street taxis and becak (rickshaws) - always agree price first.
Beware of 'helpful' guides at temples who demand money. Use only officially licensed guides from ticket counter.
Remove shoes when entering temples. Wear modest clothing (shoulders and knees covered). Sarongs available for borrowing.
Malioboro Street is best for shopping - bargain! Starting prices are often 3x the real price.
Try local dishes: Gudeg (jackfruit stew), Bakpia (sweet pastries), Sate Klathak (skewers).
Mount Merapi volcano is active. Check warnings before tours. Tours stop during heightened volcanic activity.
