Fly to Simferopol (SIP), then trolleybus (86km, 2.5h, ~200 RUB) or bus (1.5h) or taxi. Trolleybus is unique experience - longest in the world!
Historic 1945 meeting of Roosevelt, Churchill and Stalin at Livadia Palace. Decided post-WWII Europe division. Museum in palace shows original conference room.
May-June and September-October ideal. Mediterranean climate means mild winters too (roses bloom in December!). Peak summer is hot and crowded.

Useful tips for visiting Yalta
Visa/Mastercard do NOT work anywhere in Crimea. Bring cash (rubles) or Russian Mir card!
Swallow's Nest castle is THE iconic image of Crimea. Small but very photogenic. Best at sunset.
Livadia Palace - site of 1945 Yalta Conference (Roosevelt, Churchill, Stalin). Excellent museum.
Lenin Embankment is heart of city - cafes, shops, evening promenade culture.
Ai-Petri mountain (1234m) - cable car or road. Amazing views, Tatar restaurants at top.
Massandra winery - one of Russia's oldest. Tours and tastings. Try Crimean wines!
Nikitsky Botanical Garden - beautiful any season. One of oldest in Russia (1812).
