Both! Vladimir has grand cathedrals and Golden Gates. Suzdal has fairytale atmosphere with wooden houses. They are 32 km apart - do both!
Sapsan: 1.5h ($30-50). Regular train: 2.5-3h ($10-20). Bus: 3.5h ($10). Sapsan from Kursky station is best.
UNESCO site: 8 medieval buildings in Vladimir and Suzdal built from white limestone. Unique 12th century architecture.
Tight but possible. Better to stay overnight in Suzdal for full experience. Magical evening atmosphere.

Assumption Cathedral has original Andrei Rublev frescoes (15th century). UNESCO World Heritage.
Golden Gates are iconic 12th century triumphal arch - only surviving in Russia.
Combine with Suzdal (32 km away). Bus every 30 min, 40 min ride. Perfect day combo.
Sapsan high-speed train from Moscow - only 1.5 hours! Best way to arrive.
Visit Bogolyubovo nearby - Church of the Intercession on Nerl (UNESCO), most photographed in Russia.
Crystal and Lacquer Miniature Museum in Golden Gates - unique Russian crafts.
Small city - walkable. All main sights on one street (Bolshaya Moskovskaya).
