Only 45 minutes by car (42 km). Taxi about 350 pesos or ADO bus 60 pesos. Best to arrive early to avoid crowds.

In hotels and tourist restaurants yes. Locals mainly speak Spanish. A few Spanish words will help a lot.

Useful tips for visiting Valladolid
Visit Chichen Itza from Valladolid instead of Cancun — much closer and less crowded.
Cenote Zaci is free for locals and very cheap for tourists — a natural swimming pool in the heart of town.
Try cochinita pibil — traditional Yucatan slow-cooked pork dish wrapped in banana leaves.
Bicycle is the best way to get around — the town is small and flat. Most hotels offer them for free.
Book a hotel on Calzada de los Frailes — the most beautiful street with great shops and restaurants.
