Useful tips for visiting Troodos
Rent a car — public transport is very limited in the mountains. Roads are winding but well-maintained. Drive carefully in winter
Bring warm clothes even in summer — mountains are 10°C cooler than the coast. Layers recommended
Wear good hiking boots — bad footwear guarantees blisters. Quality hiking socks are equally important
Try Commandaria wine — world's oldest named wine, sweet and rich. Cyprus specialty since the Crusades
Visit Kykkos Monastery — Cyprus's wealthiest monastery with stunning views and Byzantine icons. No shorts or bare shoulders allowed
Download offline maps — mobile coverage can be patchy in some mountain areas. Google Maps offline works well
