Useful tips for visiting Tashkent
Ride the metro just to see stations - each is unique Soviet masterpiece. Kosmonavtlar (space theme), Alisher Navoi (traditional), Pakhtakor (cotton theme). Photography now allowed!
Visit Chorsu Bazaar early morning - freshest bread, least crowded. Try non (traditional bread), dried fruits, kurut. Blue-domed building is architectural wonder.
Bring cash USD for exchange - much better rates than cards. 50/100 bills preferred. Exchange at banks or official changers. Carry thick wallet - big denominations needed!
Try plov (national dish), samsa (meat pastries), lagman, shashlik. Central Asian cuisine at its best. Plov center (Osh Markazi) serves hundreds daily - authentic experience.
