Useful tips for visiting Taman Negara
Bring sufficient cash - no ATMs in Kuala Tahan. Budget at least 200-300 MYR per day for activities, food and accommodation
Book Mutiara Resort well in advance if you want to stay inside the park. Otherwise, Kuala Tahan village has many budget options across the river
Pack insect repellent (mosquitoes are fierce), headlamp for night activities, good hiking shoes with grip, and lightweight rain jacket
Take the river boat from Kuala Tembiling for a scenic arrival - 3 hours through pristine jungle. The classic Taman Negara experience
Do not swim in the river near the village - crocodiles have been spotted. Swimming is safe only at designated spots like Lata Berkoh waterfall
Avoid monsoon season (November-January) when heavy rains can suspend river activities and make trails dangerously slippery
