Soviet-era science city built in forest in 1957. Home to universities, research institutes, and Russia's tech hub. Unique atmosphere - forest, science, young people.

Very cold! Winter average -20°C, can reach -35°C. But city is well prepared - heated everything, good transport. Summer is pleasant 20-25°C.

Flight: 4h (from $60). Train: 48-55h (part of Trans-Siberian!). Trans-Siberian journey is experience itself.

Useful tips for visiting Novosibirsk

IMPORTANT: Visa/Mastercard do NOT work in Russia. Bring cash or Mir/UnionPay card.

Opera and Ballet Theatre is LARGEST in Russia (bigger than Bolshoi!). Stunning performances.

Visit Akademgorodok - Soviet science city in forest. Unique atmosphere, technopark, research institutes.

Metro bridge over Ob river is 2.1km - longest covered metro bridge in world!

Trans-Siberian railway hub. Many travelers stop here en route to/from Mongolia, China.

Zoo is one of largest in Russia. Famous for breeding snow leopards.

City is very young (founded 1893) but grew fast due to Trans-Siberian and WWII evacuations.

Summer is short but beautiful. Winters are harsh (-25°C common). Dress warmly!
