No, photography and filming are not permitted inside the castle. You can freely photograph the exterior and surrounding areas
May, June, September and early October for pleasant weather and moderate crowds. Summer (July-August) is peak season with 6000+ daily visitors
Unfortunately, time slots are strict and cannot be rescheduled. Plan to arrive early - it is a 30-40 minute walk uphill from the village

Useful tips for visiting Neuschwanstein
Book tickets online 2-3 months ahead. On-site tickets at the Ticket Center sell out by late morning most days
Bayern-Ticket (€32 for 1st person) saves money on transport. Valid after 9am weekdays, all day weekends. Covers trains and buses
Leave large bags and backpacks in lockers. They are not permitted inside the castle
Best photo spot of the castle is Marienbrücke (Marys Bridge), a 10-minute walk from the castle
Wear comfortable walking shoes. The path to the castle is uphill and steep. Shuttle buses and horse carriages available for €3-5
Consider visiting nearby Hohenschwangau Castle too. Combined ticket €31. Built by King Ludwigs father, equally impressive
