One of the best AND cheapest! Same Aurora as Norway/Finland but 3-5x cheaper. Season Sept-March, best Dec-Feb. Stay 3+ nights for best chances.

40 days (Dec 1 - Jan 10) when sun never rises above horizon. Not completely dark - twilight for few hours. Best time for Aurora but psychologically challenging!

January average -12°C but wind chill makes it feel -25°C or colder! MUST bring: thermal underwear, warm winter jacket, hat, gloves, warm boots. Tours provide extra gear.

Ghost fishing village 120km from Murmansk, on Arctic Ocean shore. Famous from Oscar-nominated film Leviathan. Frozen waterfalls, Dragon Eggs beach, incredible landscapes. Day trip ~9h.

IMPORTANT: Visa/Mastercard do NOT work in Russia. Bring cash!

NORTHERN LIGHTS (Aurora Borealis) - main reason to visit! Season: September-March. Best: December-February. Cheapest Aurora hunting in the world!

Northern Lights tour: ~5500-7000₽/person (3-5 hours). Book 3+ nights for best chances!

POLAR NIGHT: Dec 1 - Jan 10 (40 days). Sun never rises! Unique experience but very dark.

Nuclear Icebreaker LENIN - world's first! Now museum. Must-see for Soviet tech fans.

Teriberka village (120km) - Arctic Ocean, ghost town from movie Leviathan, frozen waterfalls.

Alyosha Monument - 35m tall soldier, one of tallest statues in Russia. Amazing views!

VERY COLD! January avg -12°C but feels -25°C with wind. Bring thermal layers!

Flight from Moscow: 2.5h (~$35-50 one way!). Train Arktika: 35h but scenic.
