Useful tips for visiting Mendoza
Buy wine directly from wineries - much better prices than shops and restaurants. Bottles can be shipped.
Book wine tours at least 2-3 days ahead, especially for famous wineries like Catena Zapata or Zuccardi.
Food in Mendoza is excellent - try local grilled meat (asado) with Malbec. Many wineries offer lunch with wine pairing.
During Vendimia Festival (early March), book accommodation and tours very early - prices rise 30-50%.
Bring sunscreen and hat - sun is very strong at 900m+ altitude. About 300 sunny days per year.
