Main tourist beach on west coast. Hotels, restaurants, sunset bars. Gateway to Gili Islands (boat from nearby). Not Lombok's prettiest beach but most convenient base. Nightlife exists but low-key. Art markets, massage parlors.
Largest Gili - 'party island'. No motorized vehicles, just bikes and horse carts. Beach bars, diving schools, nightlife. Backpackers to boutique hotels. Turtles at every snorkel spot. 30min fast boat from Lombok. Can get crowded.
Middle ground Gili - quieter than Trawangan, more developed than Meno. Best balance of facilities and peace. Excellent snorkeling, yoga retreats, hipster cafes. Sunrises over Rinjani. Local village atmosphere still present.
Smallest, quietest Gili - honeymoon island. Minimal development, maximum peace. Turtle sanctuary, salt lake, underwater statues for diving. Limited restaurants and nightlife. Perfect for digital detox and romance.
South coast - NOT like Bali's Kuta! Surfer's paradise with world-class breaks. Tanjung Aan turquoise beach, Seger Beach, Mawun Bay. Laid-back vibe, few tourists. Beach shack restaurants. Empty beaches for miles.
Indonesia's second-highest volcano (3726m). 2-4 day treks with stunning crater lake (Segara Anak). Entry 150,000-250,000 IDR/day. MUST go with guide. Open April-December only. Challenging but unforgettable. Base villages: Senaru and Sembalun.
Mountain village at Rinjani's foot. Rice terraces, waterfalls (Sendang Gile, Tiu Kelep - 20,000 IDR entry), monkey forest. Cool climate, traditional Sasak life. Homestays in village. Trek base or peaceful retreat from beaches.
Capital city - not a tourist destination but useful for banks, hospitals, shopping. Mayura Water Palace, Pura Meru temple. Airport connection. Local life without tourists. Pass through rather than stay.

Generally safe island. Watch for strong currents and riptides at beaches. Rinjani trek needs proper guide - people die annually. Scooter accidents common - wear helmet. Petty theft on Gili's - lock valuables. Conservative Muslim island - dress modestly inland.
