Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra is must-see - bring candle, women cover heads, explore underground caves. One of most important Orthodox sites in world. Allow 3-4 hours.
Arsenalna metro station is world's deepest (105m). Take escalator ride - 5 minutes down! Beautiful Soviet architecture. Also serves as bomb shelter.
Try borsch (beetroot soup), varenyky (dumplings), chicken Kyiv. Ukrainian cuisine is delicious and very affordable. Full meal in good restaurant under $15.
