Derrynane Beach is a picturesque golden sandy beach surrounded by dunes and turquoise clear waters, considered one of Ireland's most beautiful beaches. Located within Derrynane National Historic Park, it features Abbey Island connected by a walkway at low tide, which contains medieval abbey ruins. Book Ring of Kerry tours early in summer - they sell out fast. Tours depart around 10am and return by 6pm. Drive anti-clockwise if self-driving (buses go clockwise).
Pack rain gear - Killarney receives 1,283mm of rain annually. Even summer can have showers. Waterproof jacket and shoes are essential.
