Hire an ASI-approved guide (1800-2000 INR for 2-3h) - they provide excellent historical context for the intricate sculptures. Available at entrance or Raja Cafe.
Light & Sound Show is a must-see! Narrated by Amitabh Bachchan with 3D projection. Timing: Oct-Feb 6:30 PM, Mar-Sep 7:30 PM. Tickets: 300 INR adults.
Beware of touts! Ignore people claiming temples are closed and offering alternative tours. Use only ASI-approved guides. Negotiate souvenir prices.
Carry enough cash (5000-10000 INR for 2-3 days). ATMs available but may be limited. Cards accepted at hotels but cash for transport and street food.
