Useful tips for visiting Issyk-Kul
Best time to visit: July-August for swimming (water reaches 20-24°C). June and September good for fewer crowds. Winter for ski resorts near Karakol.
From Bishkek: 4-5 hours by shared taxi/marshrutka (400-600 som). Private car faster via new highway. Tamchy airport has seasonal flights but limited.
Stay in yurt camps for authentic experience - around $30-50 per night including meals. CBT (Community Based Tourism) offices in Karakol and Cholpon-Ata arrange treks and homestays.
