Useful tips for visiting Hakone
Get the Hakone Free Pass - includes all transport and museum discounts. Buy at Odakyu Shinjuku station. 2-day pass is usually sufficient
Ropeway may close due to volcanic activity - check hakonenavi.jp before visiting Owakudani. Alternative bus routes available
Book ryokan in advance, especially for weekends and autumn leaf season (Nov). Many include kaiseki dinner and breakfast in the price
