Useful tips for visiting Grand Canyon
Book in-park lodges 12-13 months ahead! They fill up fast, especially spring and fall weekends.
Drink 1L water per hour while hiking. Bring electrolytes - water alone can cause dangerous sodium depletion (hyponatremia).
NEVER attempt to hike to the river and back in one day! This causes most rescues. It is harder going up than down.
Hike before 10am and after 4pm in summer. Canyon bottom reaches 50°C (122°F)!
Use free shuttle buses inside the park. 3 routes cover all viewpoints. No need to drive within South Rim.
Bring your own food! Restaurants are limited and expensive. Market Plaza has a small grocery store.
Cell coverage is limited. Verizon works best. Lodge WiFi is slow (1-5 Mbps). Download maps offline before arriving.
Elevation 2100m may cause altitude sickness. If you feel headache or nausea, rest and drink water.
С 2026 года иностранные туристы платят дополнительные $100 за вход (кроме детей до 15 лет и резидентов США с грин-картой).
