Ramla il-Ħamra is Gozo's most beautiful beach and one of the most distinctive in the Mediterranean thanks to its rare orange-red sand. The unique sand colour, caused by natural minerals, creates a stunning contrast with the clear blue water and surrounding green slopes. The beach is protected as a nature reserve and offers safe swimming for families with its shallow waters and good facilities. According to legend, the nymph Calypso lived in a cave overlooking the bay.
