Eindhoven is the birthplace of Philips and home to the High Tech Campus, Europe's smartest square km. ASML, NXP, and many tech startups are based here. The city has a strong design and innovation culture.
OV-chipkaart costs €7.50. Check in when boarding, check out when leaving. For trains, keep at least €20 balance. You can also use contactless debit/credit card (OVpay) - same price, no card needed.

Useful tips for visiting Eindhoven
Rent a bike! Eindhoven is extremely bike-friendly. OV-fiets at train station €4.55/day. Always lock well - bike theft is common.
Visit Strijp-S for creative scene, street art, and industrial architecture. Especially good during Dutch Design Week (October).
Many places don't accept cash - card-only. Maestro debit cards work best. Some places don't accept American credit cards.
Van Abbemuseum has excellent modern art collection. Philips Museum tells the city's industrial history.
Eindhoven is cheaper than Amsterdam. Great base for exploring Netherlands - Amsterdam 1.5h, Rotterdam 1h by train.
