faq.subtitle Canaima
Only by plane from Caracas — Conviasa flies twice weekly (Thursday and Sunday). No roads to Canaima. From village to Angel Falls — 5-6 hours by canoe up river, then 1 hour hike. 3-5 day tours include everything: flight, boat, hammock accommodation.
Compromise — October-November! In dry season (December-April) the waterfall becomes a trickle or mist. In rainy (May-September) the falls are powerful but often hidden by clouds. October-November: rains taper off but water levels still high — ideal combination.
3-day tour from Caracas: $675-775/person. 4-day: $795-850. 5-day: $830-890. Includes: flight, boat, guide, meals, hammocks. NOT included: park entry fee $40, paid on site. Helicopter to falls (optional): $500-550/person for group of 4.
Moderate fitness needed. Hike to waterfall base: 4 km each way, 60% flat + 40% inclines up to 45°. 90%+ humidity, trails with roots, rocks, puddles. Not recommended for children under 5. After hike you can swim in pool at the base!
Useful tips for visiting Canaima
Bring waterproof bag for electronics — even in dry season, waterfall spray will soak everything.
Overnight at Angel Falls — in hammocks! Bring light jacket or sweater: night temps drop to 22°C with high humidity.
Insect repellent essential — mosquitoes active especially at dawn/dusk and near water.
Almost no internet or mobile signal in Canaima. Electricity from solar panels or generators. Disconnect from the world!
You can walk behind Sapo Waterfall (Salto Sapo) — unique experience! Wear swimsuit under clothes.
